D. M. Gardner's Ave Maria is a timeless and beautiful work, evoking a sense wonder about the burden of being the mother of the Savior of the world.  The beautiful opening melody captures the attention of your ears, and moves through the spectrum of emotion as Mary raises a sinless child.

Ave Maria is a favorite among choir members.  The slow-two pulsing rhythm juxtaposed with a flowing and beautiful melody give this piece that unusual "extra" that causes one to adore it.  A skilled oboe player is required to make this work a success.  The optional violin would also beautifully compliment the choir and cello.
