The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer attempts to portray the eternal implications of what, at first, seems like just a simple prayer.  Upon reflection, a great significance is revealed with each phrase, demonstrating the infinite wonder and majesty of our Lord.  Finally, we are humbled by the mere thought that a God so great provides a way for every individual to speak to him, even going to the length of showing us how we are to pray.

Advanced children's choirs and adult SSAA choirs will enjoy this musical prayer.  The Lord's Prayer is a wonderfully resonant and powerfully ethereal work, excellent for performance in a church cathedral setting.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
