Prelude No. 1 in C

Guitar and Flute Includes: Score / Parts

Arr. of Bach's Prelude No. 1

(DMG2009) $TBA ea.
Prelude No. 1 in C is an original flute melody above an arrangement of Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C for classical guitar.  The concept behind the title of this piece is that the melody itself has always existed within the music, needing only to be written down.  This charming little piece will fit in nicely with a varied repertoire.

Prelude No. 1 in C also lends itself quite well to variation.  Samuels and Cioffero brilliantly ad lib the second half of their performance as demonstrated in the audio example provided.  Many other hidden melodies and rhythms are still waiting to be discovered.

Note: The second-half of the audio example is ad lib by the performers and is NOT written out on the available score.

A bit of scordatura (6th string to F) is called for to facilitate the guitar arrangement, but a quick adjustment makes this piece flow nicely from the strings.  Of note, this arrangement easily translates itself into various ad lib stylistic variations to add a little fun to your gig.

A scordatura (literally Italian for "mistuning") is an alternate tuning used for the open strings of a string instrument. It is an extended technique used to allow the playing of otherwise impossible melodies, harmonies, figures, chords, or other note combinations. --- Wikipedia.
